City of Dublin Receives an "A" Grade from the American Lung Association

For the seventh year in a row, the City of Dublin has received an "A" grade from the American Lung Association for its adoption of tobacco control policies. Only six percent (6%) of Californians live in cities or counties with an "A" grade.

The grades are based on standardized statewide criteria, and are awarded for how well jurisdictions are doing with the adoption of tobacco control policies within three policy categories: (1) Smoke-free Outdoor Air; (2) Smoke-free Housing; and (3) Reducing Sales of Tobacco Products.  Jurisdictions can receive bonus points for "emerging issues."

In Alameda County, there are only five cities (Dublin, Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, and Union City)  that received an overall tobacco control grade of "A."
