Dublin Camp Parks Military History Center
Dublin Camp Parks Military History Center preserves and share the fascinating stories of the military base that helped transform Dublin from a rural crossroads to the thriving city it is today.
Located at the Camp Parks Visitor Center, just outside the military base's Main Gate, the History Center is a partnership between the City of Dublin and Parks Reserve Forces Training Area. It features permanent museum-quality exhibits and rotating temporary exhibits, as well as history activities several times a year. Admission is free.
Temporary Exhibits and History Events
Current Exhibit: Women in Service: The Red Cross and Nurses of Camp Parks During the 1940s and 1950s
During the 1940s and 1950s, Navy nurses and Red Cross workers served important roles at Camp Parks and neighboring Shoemaker Naval Hospital, a 3,000-bed facility which provided care for almost 46,000 patients during World War II. This exhibit salutes the women who helped to heal, comfort and transition injured sailors and Marines back to civilian life in a dynamic post-War world. On display are original uniforms, medical equipment, therapy artifacts and photos.

Parks Air Force Base was a basic training center, overseas replacement depot and air base defense training area during the Korean War. Learn about the Korean War and how Parks Air Force Base provided basic training and prepared air men for flight school and service. See on display a recruits ‘regulation’ bunk complete with footlocker and souvenirs, uniforms including the herringbone jumpsuit worn for work duty, an officer’s desk complete with General McArthur snow globe and original Parks AFB Yearbooks with photos depicting the training and comradery Parks AFB personnel and original construction plans, reports, photographs and documents for Parks AFB and Hospital.
Military History Event: Celebrating Parks Air Force Base

Members of the Military, Veterans and the Public are invited to view the new exhibit, Parks Air Force Base: 1951 – 1959 and meet the curators. Historian Steve Minniear will speak about Camp Parks Air Force Base and the Korean and Cold Wars and lead a panel discussion. Enjoy complementary canteen refreshments and fifties fun!
